I once heard "give a living space character not a theme" and boy, did those words stay in the back of my head when moving forward with federico's room design. Being the age that he is, it threw me back a little because I felt that he needed to have a room that he could identify with : overflowing toy baskets, superhero bed sheets, and character stuffed animals. It is every kid's dream to be able to walk into their room and feel like they are at a toy store. I am not someone who spoils Fede rotten with objects, but instead I furnish his spaces with basics. Doing so, allows me to think of a more timeless interior. I went ahead, and began to combine colors that fede likes, such as greens, yellows, black, and reds. I added a painting of a young boy with a deep gaze that reminds me of my son's strong personality. The objects that I included relate to his two favorite hobbies: reading, and trains. I made it a priority to include everything he needs in his bedroom BUT in small amounts and in an orderly fashion. When I was gathering pieces for his room, I remember thinking to myself: "What are you doing? he's a two- year old!" But after seeing the results, I realized how important it is to follow one's intuition and not being afraid of breaking the rules.
